After running a 200-meter leg last week on a sprint medley relay, Katelyn Tuohy (North Rockland, NY) really got her sophomore outdoor season started with a win and new meet record in the 3,200 at her home invitational, the Red Raider Relays.

Fighting cold tempeture (43 degrees) and constant winds (17 mph), which resulted in a real feel tempeture of 37 degrees, the NXN and NBNI champion posted a US#3 time of 10:08.13.

The first-day highlight on the boys side was a double by the Northport NY Clairborne twins --  Elijah used a 60-second final lap to win the 1,600 in 4:16.55 (the fastest time in NY this season) brother Isaiah finished the day with a win in the 3,200, running 62 seconds for his final lap to win in 9:25.38. That, too, is the top time in NY so far this season.

The meet continues Saturday when the weather conditions are expecte to improve.
